Jobsworth Parish Council

The time? It's 2:24am.

The place? Jobsworth.

The year? World War Two.

The village-folk are rudely awakened from their slumber as one mister A. Hitler knocks not so politely on the door with his gang of droning Luftwaffe, on their way to attack the strategically vital but defensively lacking Luttersfield Airbase. The only thing that stands proud in defiance? The towering beacon piercing the dark with it's beam of hope. The Jobsworth Lighthouse stands at the ready to fend off the German invasion.

- An excerpt from "World War Jobsworth" by Hank Lorn

The Jobsworth Lighthouse is the proudest historical landmark in our great village. Originally built to help guide vessels both sanctioned and unsanctioned to safe harbour it officially became disused during the 1870s due to budget cuts from Heartinglye Borough Council.

Fifty years later, the second great war came to the village of Jobsworth thanks to top military brass's idea to put a strategically vital airbase in Luttersfield. The lighthouse became a lookout point for invading German planes and a number of coastal artillery batteries were situated around the beacon. Together Jobsworth defended the helpless Luttersfield and helped Britain win the war.

Since those glorious days the lighthouse has been allowed to slowly decay after years of neglect and now has become a no-go zone for people for fear it could collapse. We, the parish council, think this is unacceptable and are lobbying Heartinglye Borough Council to give us the funds and tools we need to restore this monument to it's former glory. This is the Lighthouse Restoration Project.

We need all the help we can get from local residents* in making sure HBC understand the importance of the lighthouse to the identity of the locals.
